The 2 Days Rwanda Gorilla tour & Mount Bisoke hike is an exceptional package taking you to Volcanoes National Park in north western Rwanda. Enjoy a guided trek to meet up with the endangered mountain gorillas in the bamboo forests of Volcanoes Park which shelter over 400 mountain gorillas habituated into 10 families. You will trek 1 of these amazing gorilla groups and enjoy their social characters similar to those of humans. The gorilla families in Volcanoes National park include Hirwa, Karisimbi, Sabinyo, Amahoro, Umubano, Agashya, Susa A, Titus, and Kwitonda among others. Each gorilla family is unique in its won kind and worth visiting. The 2 days trip also offers a hike to the summit of mount Bisoke one of the 8 volcanoes in the Virunga Massif. The mountain stands at 3,696 meters above the sea level. The dormant volcano last erupted in 1957 and its located in Rwanda’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The lower slopes of the volcano are covered with forests which shelter different primates and birds. The summit of Mount Bsioke shelters a beautiful crater lake best for photography. Hiking to the summit lasts for between 4-5 hours depending on your physical fitness. The 2 Days tour is best for short time travelers who would want to explore the beauty of this small country. Volcanoes National park is the most visited national park in Rwanda which receives the highest number of travelers who visit this small country. The Park covers 160 square kilometers and is currently undergoing expansion to create more space for the increasing population of mountain gorillas in the area. The park offers other interesting activities which include golden monkey trekking, bird watching, visiting twin lakes, Musanze caves and nature/forest walking. Also, a gorilla tour in Volcanoes National park is normally complemented with a cultural tour to the Gorilla Guardian Village, former Iby’iwacu cultural village where travelers meet and interact with local people. Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Mt Bisoke Hike
If in Kigali; you will be picked up by our company representative as early as 4:30am for a transfer to Musanze province – the base for Volcanoes NP , report to the Kinigi offices by 7:00 am for registration and briefing before embarking on this adventurous hike to the top of Mt Bisoke. At the top, enjoy the crater lake, have lunch and also take in the wonderful views of Rwanda from an aerial view. Later descend to the base, meet your tour guide for a return drive to your lodge. Dinner and overnight at The Garden Place (Budget), Davinci Gorilla Lodge (Midrange), Mountain Gorilla View Lodge (Luxury).
Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking and Departure
Enjoy an early morning breakfast and assemble at the Kinigi park head offices by 7:00am for morning briefing on the trekking guidelines before taking onto your adventurous expedition. Usually, it takes about 30 minutes to several hours to encounter the mountain gorillas; but once got, enjoy an hour with them before retrieving to the starting point (for Certificates of Participation) before returning to Kigali for departure flight.
